What is a Blanket Shaper?
Our hexagon Blanket Shaper is designed to help newborn photographers achieve clean, reliable shaping under their fabric layers. Position the Blanket Shaper under your material, and when the baby is placed into the setup, their weight gently guides the fabric to reveal a perfect outline.
Posing Assist
This Blanket Shaper has our Posing Assist feature; curved, sweeping walls which allows simpler placement of cushions and posing beans within the shaper.
Exclusive to Trident Labs
Each piece is designed and made to order by Trident Labs using strong, rigid white plastic. The top edge of our Posing Assist models are rounded for soft shaping.

This Blanket Shaper measures 50cm across and has a depth of 12cm, making it suitable for a wide range of newborn posing styles and fabric setups.
Useful Tips
There are lots of different ways to use our Blanket Shaper posing props, and every photographer will have their own working style. Here are a few suggestions we find helpful for achieving great results with minimal effort:
- We recommend working on a surface that adds a little friction, as this helps keep the Blanket Shaper in position under your layers. A thin sheet of foam works brilliantly for this and still allows you to adjust everything as needed.
- You can place posing beans, small pillows or rolled blankets inside the Blanket Shaper to keep the newborn comfortable and supported. This also helps bring the baby up to a good height and position for beautiful photos.
- To keep your material smooth and tight across the shape, use spring clamps or sandbags around the edges of your setup. For more elaborate designs (such as the butterfly wings), adding small weights inside the shape can enhance definition, and they can be taken out in post-production with a simple edit.
Care Guide
Made from strong, rigid white plastic, your Blanket Shaper can be easily wiped clean if required. Avoid dropping it onto hard surfaces, as this may cause damage. We also recommend storing it out of direct sunlight when not in use, as long-term UV exposure can make plastic brittle over time.
